      I don’t get scared about my job in particular- I suppose I am more scared about not being able to do what I love …which is teaching and research…

      Hi @369sped46. It’s not an scary job although sometimes when you face a big class of 100+ students if looks pretty scary 😀

    Yes!

    Setting off large calculations on big machines is terrifying in the sense of the cost involved. Get it right! Put in the right parameters!

    Always back up your data. Memory sticks, memory sticks, memory sticks….

    We once had an incident in the server room(houses all the big computers holding all data) where they were rattled by a sonic boom created when air conditioning failed(hence INERGEN gas release). Two weeks people thought they had lost ALL of their work…..scary!
