        I am hoping that some of the reasearch I am working on will be able to help towards preserving vision in the eye..

        Hi @Aimee. Although my research is not focused on directly saving lives, it could avoid terrorist attacks in the future

        Mmmmm…..depends what you mean by “saved”!

        I think we all “save” each other in science(certainly by looking out for each other) by looking out for each other, having regular cups of coffee, chatting, supporting each other on those days when nothing is working 🙂

        In terms of accident/emergency, no thankfully I’ve never been in the situation of having to apply the kiss of life to someone or do basic first aid.

        I am indebted to a few people who pulled me out of the river Thames(fell in, numpty! I did try rowing….) and had an asthma attack from the cold water. I was okay after a few mins, they wrapped me up and then I was laughing about it pretty soon…

        @Aimee – Unlike medical doctors, researchers are not on the front line so we can only save people through our research. However, it usually takes a long time for research to result to a benefit in the clinic.
