Boring version of my sentence above – I am specially interested in studying the structure-property relationships in organic conjugated compounds. In particular I investigate the role of small systematic structural changes in common core structures on their photophysical, photochemical, electrochemical and charge transfer properties, both in solution and solid phase. The ultimate end of my research is the development of sensitive thin film sensing devices that can be used in the detection of nitromaromatic compounds and reactive oxygen species such as peroxides among other analytes. I am also dedicated to the theoretical study of the intermolecular interactions in crystal derived structures of organic conjugated compounds to understand crystallisation processes.
