      Hi @Pamplin. Spectroscopy can be used to determine the structure, composition and concentration of your samples. It studies the interactions between radiation (light) and matter and how these interactions induce changes in the systems you study so that you can extract the relevant information. Depending on how much energy you supply to your samples, you can induce changes which are larger or smaller.

      Hi @Pamplin Spectroscopy has such a wide range of applications- you can use it to analyse the nature of an unknown compound- for example NMR spectroscopy looks at the arrangement of the atoms in relation to each other- for example C- bonded with 2 or 3 hydrogen’s or 4? Infrared looks at the bonds that exist on the molecule how they absorb energy…
